This investigation was structured to enable a thorough understanding of the telecommunications requirements in three different, but related areas; WAN, LAN, and local telephone access.  The consulting reviewed the education delivery and the administrative systems.  A list of recommendations was offered relating to each of the micro-studies.

Education as a Niche Market for Alberta Power Ltd./TELMARK Telecommunications
This consulting project was in response to Alberta Power Ltd. researching new ways in which their telecommunication resources could appeal to the education community.  This was a detailed report on Alberta educational facilities.

DETAC Corporation was responsible for offering an educational perspective to the development of this needs assessment package.

Malaysian Twinning Project Report Taylor College, Malaysia - Red River Community College, MB
DETAC Corporation was commissioned to explore an exclusive partnership to deliver Canadian Studies curriculum via Distance Education to Taylor College in Malaysia.  This proposed partnership was a direct result of the Team Canada Trade Mission in January 1996, of which DETAC was a part.

Micro-Study on Telecommunications Infrastructure for Prairie Land Regional Division #25 - An Educational Perspective
The above micro-studies covered distance education issues including:  telecommunications, distance education technology review and computer context in the schools.  The report covered what is currently possible, what could be possible in 2-3 years and what would be the most desirable situation in these Divisions.

Certified Energy Retrofit Contractor (CERC) - BC 21 Power Smart Consultants Report on Educational Development and Certification
DETAC Corporation was commissioned to review the education process for CERC.  The report touched on the viability of the CERC plan and offered a positive approach to the development of a training program that would result in certification of successful candidates to do retrofit energy upgrading of existing homes and housing units.

Olds College was seeking to develop its distance education capacity to generate new service levels and offer services in new forms.  This study involved data gathering and recommendations from an educational perspective.

This series of modules was developed for The Commonwealth of Learning, an international agency to promote the use of distance learning.  The series is the work of a team of experts who have years of experience in distance education internationally.  The independent study modules provide participants with local learning materials on the use of Audio-Graphic Teleconferencing.

Audiographic Teleconferencing for Distance Education
A publication for Telecom Canada that updated the marked changes that had taken place in the field of teleconferencing in the 1980's.

TIP Project (Training for Improved Performance)
Dr. Ellis was a consultant to Athabasca University, Alberta on the development of the small business trial for TIPNET and acted as the professional liaison to EBA Engineering Consultants Ltd., Edmonton.

Post Secondary Distance Learning Services:  Market Size and Definition
A study for AGT Marketing Research involving the interviewing of 18 Post-Secondary Educational Institutions.

Distance Learning in Alberta
A study for Alberta Advanced Education to document the Alberta Distance Learning field in post-secondary and public education.  The study documented the current situation in terms of distance learning needs and services, as well as, designed an described alternative scenarios to consider.
